Satish Tayade
Expressive portraiture and layered textures define Satish Tayade’s contemporary paintings. Working across watercolor, acrylic, and oil, his practice explores themes of identity, resilience, and the evolving narratives of contemporary womanhood. Based in Pune, Tayade draws from over two decades of artistic practice to create emotionally charged portraits that blend realism with expressive abstraction. His ongoing series focuses on a young woman who represents a composite identity, embodying strength, vulnerability, rebellion, and grace. Through textured surfaces, bold brushwork, and symbolic composition, his work reflects the tensions between tradition and modernity in contemporary Indian society. Beyond painting, Tayade has worked extensively as an illustrator and designer across publishing, television, and film. His artistic journey continues to explore portraiture as a space where personal stories, cultural identity, and social dialogue intersect.
