Radhika Bawa
Geometry, colour, and layered urban textures define Radhika Bawa’s contemporary painting practice. Working primarily with watercolour and acrylic, her compositions translate the dense rhythms of city life into expressive visual narratives. Based in Mumbai, Bawa draws inspiration from the complex environments of the metropolis. Her work explores the visual and social contrasts that shape urban living from informal settlements to towering skyscrapers revealing the shared human experiences that connect different ways of life. Through structured patterns and vibrant colour fields, she interprets the city as an evolving maze of architecture, movement, and community. Her ongoing series Urban Maze reflects this exploration of interconnectedness, where geometric forms and layered compositions capture what she describes as the “organised chaos” of urban growth. By shifting perspective sometimes observing the city from street level and sometimes from above, Bawa’s paintings invite viewers to reconsider the relationships between space, people, and the everyday moments of dignity and resilience found within city life.

“In the great urban maze we inhabit, the domestic heart beats the same beneath every roof—whether made of concrete or tarp.”
