Niyamat Mehta

Mythology, symbolism, and the human form shape Niyamat Mehta’s sculptural practice. Working primarily with bronze and mixed media, she creates expressive works that explore identity, resilience, and the enduring connection between body, spirit, and cultural heritage. Trained at the Florence Academy of Art, Mehta brings together the discipline of classical European sculpture with the narrative richness of South Asian mythology. Her works often feature archetypal forms horses, elephants, and symbolic figure interpreted through a contemporary lens. These sculptures balance material weight with a sense of movement and transformation, suggesting a dialogue between permanence and imagination. Based between London and New Delhi, Mehta’s practice reflects a fusion of traditions and influences. Through her studio Atelier Della Firenze in New Delhi, she also mentors emerging artists, sharing classical sculptural techniques while encouraging new interpretations of heritage and identity.

“Sculpture is a language of permanence in a transient world—a way to honour heritage while allowing it to evolve into new forms.”
