Gayatri Deshpande
Expressive colour, layered surfaces, and emotional abstraction define Gayatri Deshpande’s painting practice. Working primarily with oil, acrylic, and charcoal, she creates compositions that explore the inner landscapes of the human mind through gesture, texture, and tonal contrasts. Based in Pune, Deshpande’s work often draws inspiration from nature and introspection. Her paintings move fluidly between abstraction and subtle imagery, allowing colour and form to convey emotional states that words cannot easily express. Through layered marks and shifting light, she constructs atmospheric compositions that invite viewers into contemplative visual spaces. A graduate of Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya in Pune, Deshpande has been engaged with art for over two decades as both an artist and educator. Alongside her studio practice, she mentors emerging artists through her teaching initiatives, continuing to explore painting as a language of emotion, reflection, and personal discovery.
