Ramesh Jhawar

Light, atmosphere, and everyday life define Ramesh Jhawar’s watercolour practice. Working in an impressionistic realist style, his paintings capture fleeting moments across landscapes, cityscapes, and human subjects, shaped by a deep sensitivity to light and time. Based in Erode, Jhawar transitioned from a background in commerce to pursue art full-time, eventually finding his voice in watercolour. His work is grounded in strong draughtsmanship and technical control, allowing him to navigate complex compositions with spontaneity and ease. Travelling extensively across India, he draws from lived observation , depicting streets, figures, and ordinary scenes with empathy and quiet attention. Through nuanced handling of light and shadow, his works elevate the everyday into moments of lasting presence. Whether capturing a fleeting gesture or a still urban corner, his paintings hold a sense of permanence within transience, where atmosphere and memory gently converge.

“Light is at the heart of my work. Through it, I try to capture fleeting moments—where the ordinary becomes something lasting, and each scene holds a quiet, enduring presence.”
