Manisha Agrawal
Vivid depictions of flora and fauna set against expansive negative space define Manisha Agrawal’s paintings. Working primarily in painting, she explores themes of ecological fragility, coexistence, and the delicate balance between humans and the natural world. Based in Indore, Agrawal draws inspiration from the biodiversity surrounding her, using colour and symbolism to highlight the vulnerability of species and habitats. Many of her works present animals and natural elements in unexpected contexts, such as a tiger enclosed within a glass jar, creating visual metaphors that invite reflection on conservation and environmental responsibility. A graduate of the Government Fine Arts College, Indore, where she completed both her BFA and MFA in Painting, Agrawal has developed a practice that combines research, symbolism, and expressive colour to create works that encourage viewers to pause and reconsider their relationship with nature.
