Deepa Nath

Intimate figurative scenes and quiet emotional exchanges define Deepa Nath’s paintings. Working across acrylic, charcoal, metal etching, and ceramics, she explores themes of compassion, human relationships, and the emotional lives of women and children. Based in Hyderabad, Nath’s practice is deeply shaped by her background in social work. Her works often emerge from personal memories and lived experiences, including time spent working with underprivileged children. Series such as Collective Conscience and Rustic Blossoms reflect her engagement with childhood, empathy, and social realities, while her Raasa series revisits classical Indian references to explore intimacy, tenderness, and mutual respect between partners. Through restrained compositions and expressive line work, Nath creates works that invite viewers to reflect on vulnerability, connection, and the quiet depth of human emotion.

“In my work I try to move beyond appearances and focus on the tenderness and emotional connection between people. It is these small moments of compassion that stay with us.”
