Prasanta Acharjee
Rhythmic geometric forms and vibrant colour fields define Prasanta Acharjee’s abstract paintings. Working primarily with acrylic and mixed media, he explores the relationship between abstraction and figuration, transforming everyday scenes and cultural memories into simplified shapes, gestures, and layered compositions. Based in Kolkata, Acharjee draws inspiration from the rhythms of urban life, traditional music, and the spiritual landscapes of India. His works often distil familiar subjects such as city streets, musicians, and riverfronts into minimal visual structures that balance movement, colour, and space. Underlying this visual language is a philosophical approach to art as a search for harmony between opposing elements: light and dark, modern and traditional, energy and stillness. Acharjee studied painting at the Indian Society of Oriental Arts in Kolkata and has been practicing as an artist since 1997.

“In my work there is a quest for the absolute—a search for a higher meaning where art becomes a manifestation of universal laws rather than individual expression.”
